Reverse Psychology: There Is A Movie Coming Out About The Government And Hollywood Teaming Up To Fake The 1969 Moon Landing

Space.com - As the trailer reveals and Columbia Pictures and Apple Original Films' synopsis reads, "Fly Me to the Moon" is a "comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA's historic Apollo 11 moon landing." Scarlett Johansson plays the fictional Kelly Jones, a marketing maven who is brought in to fix NASA's public image, and in the process, "wreaks havoc" on the task set forth for launch director Cole Davis (Channing Tatum).

In the 2-minute and 30-second video, Jones is shown organizing commercial product placements for the Apollo astronauts to endorse and, when she cannot get NASA's team of engineers to do interviews, replaces them with actors. All of which leads to the film's crux, "Project Artemis" (not to be confused with NASA's Artemis program, which seeks to return astronauts to the moon today, 50 years after the Apollo program ended).

"The whole world will be watching, we can't afford to lose to the Russians. We need to shoot a backup version," says Woody Harrelson, as a yet to be identified NASA official.

In other words, they need to fake the moon landing.

As the trailer wraps up, Johansson is shown recruiting a director (Jim Rash) and setting about recreating the lunar surface on a sound stage. Suffice to say, NASA in real life did not film a backup or fake the moon landings.

I fucking love this move. 

Hollywood is bone-dry in terms of new ideas for movies and television. They've even beaten remaking old classic movies to the ground and are on their fifth Spider-Man and fourth Batman reboots. So what's the move? 

Start taking conspiracy theories, throw ScarJo and Tanning Taytum in, and make it a rom-com.

As they follow the trail of a lost recording that might reveal the truth, their professional tension and clashing methods give way to personal connections and unexpected feelings.

As I said on Billy's podcast this week, if you want to call me crazy because I have an open mind to pretty much anything, and question everything we're told because nothing in the world surprises me anymore, than so be it. Call me crazy. 

Having an open mind, thinking critically, and questioning things we're told used to be celebrated. (Socrates. Ever heard of him?) 

Not anymore. Now you're labeled crazy and have your blog publishing rights taken away.

Now that said, I'm not like Steph Curry perse, who doesn't believe we ever visited the moon and that it was faked.

And no, I don't flat-out think the landing was faked.

However, I would not be the teeniest, tiniest, bit surprised. And, am I a tad curious why if we successfully landed a ship on the moon, had two guys bounce around on it, plant a US flag, then take that same ship back here and survive in one piece, haven't we ever been back since? Yes, yes I am. Am I a tad bit curious how my fucking cell phone doesn't get reception in my condo but we were able to broadcast live video and audio from Earth to the moon, and back, in 1969? Yah, you bet your ass I am. 

But I digress. Asking these questions automatically makes you somebody who believes the Earth is flat and Trump is bringing JFK Jr. back from the dead to all these know-it-alls.

Which brings me to my summary. The fact they're making movies like this now does nothing but make people write shit off even more. The fact this movie is coming out now allows the Feitelbergs/know-it-alls of the world to roll their eyes, point and laugh at you while yelling, "you mean like that horrible romantic comedy movie they made?", any time you question something again.
